Family Dynamic: Nath is from a fairly large family and has seven older sisters, but he is the only son of George and Lana Kern. He was raised in a small Australia town, in a normal muggle community not knowing anything was different about him or his wider family until he was 9, when he started to manifest strange powers. It was at this point he found out why his grandparents didn’t like to speak much about his European family or what they did.
Lana Kern, Nath’s mother, was born Lana Stoger, and was the only daughter of Elric Stoger, one of the most powerful wizard in Austria and greater Europe and also the first born son of the long and noble Stoger line (Elric was driven from Europe to Australia by his dark witch sister Sophia; but that’s a story for another day). Lana’s mother, Nath’s grandmother, is one of the foremost researchers of magical animal handling in Australia and was one of the first to tame a wild born Bunyip. Lana, unfortunately, was born a squib and as none of the daughters ever showed magical ability, Nath’s powers came as quite a surprise. From the point Nath first showed his abilities, his grandparents were quick to induct him into the Wizarding word and they were the ones who enrolled him in Hogwarts and made sure he got there when it was time.
Nath’s magical powers have made life difficult for the family. His mother, having long felt ashamed being born mostly magic-less, is proud of her son and his magical prowess. George and six of Nath’s sisters flat out refuse to believe that magic is real and have convinced themselves that Nath is at a prestigious boarding school overseas. Only Nath’s slightly older sister, Veronica, is truly aware of her brothers powers and like her mother shows some very basic magical ability and awareness of magic around her but not nearly enough to be considered a witch in her own right.

Personality: Nath is an all round nice guy who takes everything and everyone pretty easily a likes nearly everybody; most of the time he is pretty easy to get along with. He loves intellectual debates because it allows him to challenge his intelligence and how own viewpoints. He does drop in to depressive moods pretty easily and can become brooding when feeling useless of left out of things. Because he is very intelligent and focused on things he has an interest in some people think he is arrogant or rude, but he never means to come across that way, he just always assumes people know as much as he does. Sadly, this is not always the truth. Nath has very little time for stupid people and does tend to prefer to chat with people who share his level of intelligence, but not his opinions, so he has found Ravenclaw suites him very much as a home.
He is fairly intelligent and naturally gifted with the use of magic and he gets very good grades, but Nath is lazy and never truly applies himself to his class or school work. Most of the Professors feel affection towards him, but like his friends and family, are frustrated that he doesn’t apply himself fully.
Some day’s Nath misses his home and the closeness of his family a lot, and even though he’s been at Hogwarts for four years, he is very aware how different the Wizard world is from the one of his childhood and he can feel awkward and at a loss about some subjects or customs.

Likes: Cheese sandwiches, staying awake all night, feeling useful, interesting books, messing around with friends, and spending time with his family.
Dislikes: Working really hard, loud noises, lights left on when he is trying to sleep, jerks and bullies and those little bones in fish.

Pet(s): Nath’s has a male, Australian Boobook owl named Jed (short for Jedi – his mother named him).
